Fun Patrol: August 13th Update
On Tuesday, C.T. appeared at the Crystal Mall in Waterford for a Simon Kidgits® Club event.
C.T. played Kinect,
Hungry Hungry Hippos,
posed for photos,
and signed autographs.
Thursday was the 2nd installment of the “Lunch with a Tiger” series.
Tigers’ players Zachary Maggard and Colin Kaline visited Buddy’s Dugout for “Lunch with a Tiger”.
C.T. also appeared.
The remainder of the “Lunch with a Tiger” schedule:

Homestand Photos – July 7-11, 2011
The game will be made up in early September when Lowell returns to Dodd Stadium.
Luis Sanz threw 7 innings of 1-hit ball.
Tuesday’s game was postponed due to rain and made up as part of a Doubleheader on Wednesday.
The Tigers finished up the homestand with a shutout victory over Jamestown.
Starting pitcher Brennan Smith hurled 7 shutout innings
and DH/1B Dean Green hit two homeruns for the Tigers.
The Tigers travel to State College for a 3 game series before the AllStar Break.
Tails from the Road: Auburn and Lowell
The Tigers are in the midst of a 5 game roadtrip to Auburn and Lowell.
The Doubledays play at Falcon Park.
Falcon Park was built in 1995 and has a capacity of 2,800.
Auburn is the New York-Penn League affliate of the Washington Nationals.
Andrew Graham’s club then visited Lowell, a quick drive up 395 (and 290), for 2 games.
The Spinners, a Stedler Division rival, play at LeLacheur Park, located on the campus of UMass-Lowell.
The Tigers and Spinners continue their series with 2 games at Dodd Stadium Sunday and Monday.
Tomorrow, it is C.T.’s Birthday Party and Sunday Funday.
Monday night, Hall of Famer Al Kaline will visit Dodd Stadium.
Kaline will sign autographs before the game and throw out the ceremonial first pitch to his grandson, Tigers’ infielder Colin Kaline.
Al Kaline
Al Kaline’s final game was in 1974. With over a generation of baseball fans never seeing “Mr. Tiger” play, some fans might not be familiar with the Hall of Famer.
In advance of his appearance at Dodd Stadium on Monday August 8th, we wanted to give fans some information on the Right Fielder:

This afternoon, numerous members of the Tigers visited Wequonnoc Elementary School in Taftville for an important assembly for the students.
Along with Tigers General Manager Andrew Weber, Director of Community Relations and Promotions Dave Schermerhorn, Tigers players Colin Kaline and Clemente Mendoza promoted the importance of reading.
The players read numerous books to the children; Colin in English and Clemente in Spanish.
Along with Tater, “Everyone’s Favorite Gator”, the players also led the students in many songs, including “Take Me Out to the BallGame”.
Afterwards, Tater, Kaline and Mendoza interacted with the youths and signed autographs.

Wednesday was a busy day at Dodd Stadium.
At 1:00 was the Annual Media Day event. Members of local media outlets came out to meet the players, while getting some quotes and footage for their stories.

This season marks the Australian native’s first managerial gig.
Second Baseman Colin Kaline
The grandson of Tigers’ Hall of Famer Al Kaline, recently completed his college career at Florida Southern.
Outfielder Bo McClendon
The son of former Major League Outfielder, Manager, and current Tigers’ Hitting Coach Lloyd McClendon, was excited to leave the mundane rigors of Extended Spring Training and looked forward to the upcoming season.

That evening, the Host Family BBQ was held in the Pavillion.
The 28 players and coaching staff members introduced themselves to their prospective host families.
Standard ballpark food (burgers, hotdogs and bbq chicken) was served.
Numerous conversations complete with the important questions, such as: Where are you located? and Do you have a car? were held to find the best match possible.
Tonight at 6:30 there is a team practice at Dodd Stadium. The general public is invited for this “Open Practice”.
